Have you noticed that our aloe vera gel is more liquid than most other aloe vera gel products?
That's because we don't use a thickener.
The good first:
It still works, absorbs much faster and doesn't stick! We consciously do without thickener, perfumes and fillers such as glycerin and Co.
What are thickeners?
Thickeners are added to solutions - preferably aqueous - to increase their viscosity (thickness).Thickeners are substances that are primarily able to bind water. The removal of unbound water leads to an increase in viscosity. Most thickeners are linear or branched macromolecules (such as polysaccharides or proteins) that can interact with each other through intermolecular interactions such as hydrogen bonding, hydrophobic interactions, or ionic relationships. In the cosmetics industry it is often used as a thickening agent Xanthan used to make products more viscous (gel-like). Under the English name xanthan gum, it is used in numerous cosmetic products. For example in lotions, shampoos, toothpaste and also in liquid soaps and mascara.
What exactly is xanthan gum?
Xanthan is a naturally occurring polysaccharide. It is obtained with the help of bacteria from substrates containing sugar and used as a food additive with the E number E415 as a thickening and gelling agent. Xanthan is approved according to the EU organic regulation for the production of organic food.
Why don't we use a thickener on our cool head?Quite simply: We strive to use as few ingredients as possible in all of our products. in the Aloe VeraGel we have achieved an aloe vera percentage of 99.6%, which would not have been so high if we had enriched the gel with thickening agents. In addition, our sticks Cool head not like other products with xanthan gum. This is exactly what makes handling more pleasant and the product is absorbed more quickly and unleashes its effect without sticking.
