Living vegan - very easy and cool

Vegan leben - ganz easy und cool
Vegan on the plate is already doing quite well? If you like the vegan thing, let's take Veganuary to the next level and live vegan. Living vegan means avoiding animal suffering as much as possible in all parts of everyday life. How does that concrete look? Glad you ask:
nutrition: We already have this topic on our radar, but a little repetition here: food of animal origin is not on the plate.
Cosmetics: As you have noticed, we always have a vegan version. Here, too, it is important to avoid ingredients of animal origin or by-products in the manufacturing process. When it comes to cosmetics, always make sure that the company / the product is Cruelty Free (no animal testing). Best stop after the "Leaping Bunny" or the "Hare with protective hand" Look out. A red flag are cosmetic products that are also sold in China. Animal testing for care and cosmetic products is mandatory in China.
But don't forget, cruelty-free doesn't mean vegan. You should still check the ingredients (perhaps with the support of apps like CodeCheck and the PETA app).
Fashion: Wool is nice and warm, but it comes naturally from an animal. Here animal husbandry, often painful and traumatizing shearing and mulesing are very problematic. If you don't want to contribute to this, you should avoid wool and the like and stick to plant-based fibers and fabrics.
Petroleum-based fibers like polyester and acrylic are obviously more animal-friendly, but very uncool for the planet. What you often don't realize is that clothes always shed fibers when they are washed. Not a thing with cotton and co, but with textiles made of synthetic fabrics such large amounts of microplastics get into the water.
Vegan leather is also available in an environmentally friendly way (e.g. apple leather), but it is often quite expensive. The cheap version was still called Pleather 10 years ago and is practically plastic. Not very sustainable or of high quality. Leather itself is very durable. One option that everyone has to decide for themselves is to buy something second hand. At least that way you don't support the company that benefits from the suffering of the animals.
At home: Of course, products with animal ingredients also quickly creep into the household. Pay attention to the mixture of fibers in textiles and avoid leather. With cleaning products and the like, a look at the label doesn't hurt either.

Entertainment: Are you planning your weekend and want to do something? If you like animals and don't want to support animal suffering, you might save yourself a trip to the zoo or aquarium. And if you go to the circus, check beforehand whether the circus lets animals perform.
Tourist tours with horse-drawn carriages are also absolutely no fun for the horses. Rather rent a bike.
If you want to see animals, see if there is an Animal Sanctuary near you.
